TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR RENTALS FROM 1 APR 2008 - 31 MAR 2010

Standard Rates include

Minimum Rental Duration and Costings
Minimum rental period: 5 days. Minimum rental is extended to 10 days for the travel period from 20 December to 10 January. Vehicle rentals are calculated on a per calendar day basis, i.e. day of pick-up or drop off is always counted as a full day irrespective of what time it is collected or dropped off.

Long-term Rental
For longer rentals please deduct from the 28 – 49 day rate, 5% for 50 – 74 days, 10% and for longer than 74 days please enquire for a rate.

Rental Locations (Vehicle collection and return)
Christchurch
8am - 6pm - 7 days per week

Licence and Minimum Age
A valid national driver licence is required. Non-English language national driving licences must be presented in conjunction with an official translation or valid international drivers licence. The minimum age is 21 years. A medical certificate is required for drivers over the age of 75 years stating the driver is fit to drive the vehicle the duration of their stay. Additional excess of $500NZD if aged between 21 - 25years.

Traffic Laws
The hirer is liable for all fines and penalties in relation to the driver's use of the vehicle or the vehicle itself incurred during the rental period plus an administration fee of $25NZD for each infringement or penalty notice that has been redirected by Driftaway Campers to the hirer.

Standard Excess Insurance Cover
All Driftaway Campers vehicles come with comprehensive insurance cover. A standard excess of $2,000NZD applies in the event of any damage to either our vehicle or third party property. The hirer will also be fully liable for demurrage - the daily rental rate for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (max 7 days) - and for replacing or repairing damaged windscreens and tyres. A security bond of $2,000NZD will be taken on vehicle collection. The security bond can be paid by cash, traveller's cheques or credit card. Should the bond be paid by credit card the amount will be debited to your account immediately, any currency fluctuations are not the responsibility of Driftaway Campers. The bond is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date in clean condition with no damage incurred to the Driftaway Campers vehicle or third party property, with a full tank of fuel, the toilet cassette and waste water tank emptied and no equipment lost or damaged. Driftaway Campers offer the following options to reduce or waive the Standard Excess:

All Inclusive Package
Driftaway Campers All Inclusive Package is available to travellers for $50NZD per day premium on standard rental rates. The All Inclusive Package includes: Waiver of insurance excess on any vehicle and third party property damage; the cost of replacing and repairing windscreens and tyres; and the cost of overhead and under-body damage on the rented vehicle. Camping table and chairs, sun umbrella and baby capsule or child/booster seat(s). A security deposit of $250NZD is payable at the time of pickup. The bond is fully refundable on return of the vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date in clean condition with no damage incurred to the Driftaway Campers vehicle or third party property, with a full tank of fuel, the toilet cassette and waste water tank emptied and no equipment lost or damaged.


IMPORTANT

The hirer is fully liable for any damage to the Driftaway Campers vehicle or third party property if:
1. The terms of the rental contract are breached;
2. Damage to the vehicle is caused by careless, wilful or reckless driving;
3. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
4. Driving on restricted roads;
5. Water submersion or salt water damage caused through own fault. In case of any damage to the Driftaway Campers vehicle or third party property a second bond will be collected to cover the excess for any subsequent damage.

Restrictions
Driftaway Campers can only be driven on sealed/bitumen or well-maintained access roads. No vehicle is to be driven on the following roads: Skippers Canyon Road, Ball Hutt Road, 90 Mile Beach. No animals permitted in vehicles. No smoking permitted in vehicles.

Repairs
Repairs of up to $100NZD may be affected without authorisation and will be reimbursed. Amounts above $100NZD require approval from Driftaway Camperson-road assistance.

Vehicle Return
All vehicles must be returned with a full fuel tank. Refuelling at our depot will be charged at $2.50NZD per litre of fuel plus a handling fee of $15NZD. Campervans must be returned in a clean tidy state. An additional fee of $200NZD will be charged for dirty vehicles and a further $100NZD for unemptied toilet cannister.

Reservation and Deposit
At time of booking a deposit of $200NZD is payable. The deposit secures the booking. The balance is due 30 days prior to commencement of the hire. If the balance is not received 30 days prior to commencement of the hire, Driftaway Campers reserves the right to treat the booking as cancelled. In this case the deposit is non refundable. All payments are in $NZD. Driftaway Campers does not accept liability for variences of exchange rates.

Cancellation Fees
Fees in Percentage of Gross Rates if: Additional Equipment To be booked at time of reservation. No extra charge for the following:

Change of Vehicle
If, for reasons beyond our control, the reserved vehicle is not available, we reserve the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle at no extra cost to the client. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the renter to any form of refund.

Taxes and Local State Tax
All charges include 12.5% GST. All rates and conditions are subject to change in accordance with changes in government taxes.

Changes of Contract
Changes to the contract are only valid in writing. Verbal changes are invalid unless confirmed in writing.

Rates
Subject to change at any time.

Rental Extension
If the customer wishes to extend the rental whilst on tour, they must obtain authorisation from Driftaway Campers - subject to availability. The extra cost of extended rental must be paid by credit card on confirmation of rental extension. Failure to obtain authorisation for a rental extension will result in a late fee of $150NZD per day in addition to the daily rental rate.
